In order to raise awareness of the traditions history and culture of the City of Seattle's native populations, the John T Williams Totem Pole Project will finance, carve and raise a totem pole in the City of Seattle in 2012.
The project will place a priority on education and outreach through public programming, extensive community access and documentation of the Totem pole carving process.
The resulting gift to the city will be not simply an exquisite piece of public art, but an important symbol of community and healing.
